Miracle Of Medinah stuns rivals in Rose Bowl Stakes – Horseracing news
Miracle Of Medinah shocked his rivals in the Rose Bowl Stakes - Sponsored by Compton Beauchamp Estates Ltd (Listed Race) at Newbury in England on Friday, July 19, 2013.
A total of five runners had been attracted towards the all important competition and the winning colt was the least favourite of them all. He was priced 33 to 1 by the bookies and the punters did not take much interest in gambling money on him. However, he came out with a stunning run, which silenced all of his critics.
Since the overall distance to cover was only six furlongs, it was important for all of the participants to start off quickly. Stamina was not going to come into play much, so all eyes were on the opening stages.
When the traps were opened, Miracle Of Medinah looked impressive right from that point. He was quick and did not look under any pressure at all because of the fact that he was not rated as the favourite to succeed. He continued improving his speed with the passage of time and came into a very strong position, entering the final furlong.
Although his rivals tried hard to match him, they were not good enough to come anywhere closer to him in the end, which allowed the young runner to win comfortably by a margin of almost four lengths.
The winning trainer Mark Usher said after the race, “People like myself don't dare to think too much of our horses but he is obviously improving and loves this ground but he is very much a two-year-old and loves his racing for a little colt.”
He went onto say, “I didn't put him in the Gimcrack this week but whether we go for the Richmond at Goodwood with the ground still fast I don't know. He cost 3,000gns and is in the Doncaster sales race at York which is big money on August 22, so that is most appealing but he could take in Goodwood as he takes his racing so well.”
This was the third consecutive victory for Miracle Of Medinah this year. He has now improved his strike rate further, going above 50 percent, which is quite an impressive thing.
