What engines can be swaped into a Mitsubishi Mirage 4 Door without doing anything with transmissions(basically leaving FWD)? Whats the estimated max power you think it can go as in HP?

  1. depending on the year, you can get a evolution 3-6 body kits that are awsome. you can do a dohc eclipse engine, non turbo. that would be pretty cool to see. before you put it in, clean it up with new seals, and t-belt, water pump. Something that is really nice and simple looking.

Engine swaps are covered in excessive detail here. And remember to search and read the FAQs, okay? The admins can be pricks about that.

  3. well i dont know if it is compatible but one that would fit would be the 4g63 Motor from a eclipse GST it most likely wouldnt fit the trany pieces like that arnt univeral.  If i were you id just leave that car alone its a mirage 4 door if you want a faster car sell it and buy a faster one.

  4. you could swap in the gst motor...the 4g63t would drop right in...remember the mirage is the same body as the lancer evo is...so the gst would be perfect...its also fwd so that problems is taken cared of....and there are few people who have done this type of swap...i want to too but just havent found the right body to do it in...for power, it depends on how you build it....the built eclipses are pretty fast so just imagine the same motor inside the lighter frame of the mirage...

  5. Here's a link of a guy who put the 4G63t in a Hyundai Excel. Why the Hyundai Excel? Well because that car has the same platform as the Mirage. If it can be done on a Hyundai, it can easily be done on your ride. The max power output is out of this world with the right stuff. Just remember to upgrade your brakes to stop that extra power. Also, you will need the 4G63t tranny and ECU. Word of advice: Transmissions are sensitive so you need to have the right transmission or transmission build for you power output. Your tranny might not be able to handle the added power reliably.
