The Giallorossi midfielder upset with Coppa Italia exit; former Lyon star urges his team to focus on Serie A.
AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miralem-Pjanic-c25984, is disappointed with his team’s Coppa Italia exit at the hands of Juventus.
The Giallorossi suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Juventus Stadium on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Emanuele Giaccherini opened the scoring before http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Del-Piero-c4726 doubled his team’s advantage with a wonderful goal in the first-half.
Own-goal from Simon Kjaer in the 90th minute completed the route for Antonio Conte’s men, as they advance to the semi-final of the competition.
Pjanic believes that Giaccherini’s strike dented his side’s confidence, as their game plan was foiled after the early goal. The midfielder believes that his team could have done much better had they remained focused throughout
the match. He insisted that despite playing the game on equal footing in the first-half, his team was unfortunate to concede the opening two goals on the counter attack. The former Lyon star insisted that his team had a much better second-half but it was too
late because the damage had already been done.
While talking to the reporters, Pjanic said,
“We should have and could have done more. Unfortunately the game instantly became more difficult after they scored. We conceded two goals on the break and we were never able to impose our own style of play. We tried to change the
game in the second half, but we woke up too late.”
The 21-year-old is dissatisfied with his team’s performances so far, but he believes that the team should move on from the defeat and focus on the league.
“We are not satisfied with what we did, but there is no need to make a drama out of it. Let’s forget about Juventus and concentrate on the championship now.”
La Maggica’s wonderful run of seven games also came to an end with the Coppa Italia exit. Luis Enrique’s men are placed sixth in the league table, drifting leaders, Juventus by 11 points.
Roma will take on Bologna in their next game at Stadio Olimpico Rome on Sunday, January 29, 2012.
