Mireia Belmonte Garcia occupies Women’s 400m IM gold: Day four – European SC Swimming Championships
Mireia Belmonte Garcia of Spain presented her smothering efforts by occupying gold medal of Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on the concluding day of the 2011 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Szczecin, Poland on Sunday, December 11.
Belmonte Garcia remained unimaginably ahead of her following competitors throughout the 400m event. With her exhausting efforts, she devastated hopes of her competitors and snared gold medal of the event.
She completed her initial round of the race in a fastest time of 1 minute and 00.52 seconds. Her irresistible effort was trailed by Hannah Miley of Great Britain, who remained 2.03 seconds slower than her and completed the equivalent distance in a time of
1 minute and 02.55 seconds.
Subsequently, the battle continued in the next round, where the Spanish swimmer continued her reign and ended her initial 200 metres of the race by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 08.15 seconds. She was followed by her British opponent, who remained 1.20
seconds behind her and completed her first half in a sterling time of 2 minutes and 09.35 seconds.
Garcia sustained her position in the third round, where she extended lead over her opponent by reporting a time of 3 minutes and 23.99 seconds. She was chased by Miley, who remained 1.33 seconds away from her and emerged on the finishing wall with a timing
of 3 minutes and 25.32 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Spanish veteran went wild in the final round and displayed her stunning swim by capturing the title of the vent in a wonderful time of 4 minutes and 24.55 seconds.
The second spot of the race was secured by Miley, who stayed 1.51 seconds slower from the gold medallist and posted a time of 4 minutes and 26.06 seconds. She was followed by Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary, who remained 1.80 second behind and earned bronze
medal of the event by producing a time of 4 minutes and 27.86 seconds.
In addition, Garcia was overjoyed with her tremendous effort in the 400m IM discipline whereas the winners were awarded prizes at the medal ceremony of the championship.
