Mireia Belmonte Garcia pockets Women’s 1500m freestyle gold: Day six – European LC Championships
Mireia Belmonte Garcia of Spain pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 1500m freestyle on day six of the ongoing European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Saturday, May 26.
With her impeccable efforts, Garcia sustained her top qualification spot of the distant freestyle event and reached the finishing end for gold medal of the discipline.
With her fascinating efforts, she faced no trouble in securing gold medal of the discipline as she outsmarted her opponents by touching the wall with the timing of 16 minutes and 05.34 seconds.
The champion was trailed by Eva Risztov of Hungary, who reached the medal rostrum for silver medal of the event by submitting a time of 16 minutes and 10.04 seconds.
Third position of the 1500m event was secured by Erika Villaecija Garcia of Spain, who was 4.81 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing blockade by reporting a time of 16 minutes and 15.85 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Camelia Potec of Romania, who was nearly two body lengths behind and ended her race by clocking an effort of 16 minutes and 17.88 seconds.
In the meantime, the crowd witnessed commendable efforts of Serbia’s Milorad Cavic in the Men’s 100m butterfly playoff.
Cavic demonstrated his remarkable efforts in the double lap butterfly event as he occupied gold medal of the event by reporting a time of 51.45 seconds.
His title-claiming effort remained 0.32 seconds faster from Laszlo Cseh of Hungary, who emerged on the victory stand for second position by posting a time of 51.77 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Matteo Rivolta of Italy, who stayed nearly 0.70 seconds apart and appeared on the podium for bronze medal with the timing of 52.40 seconds.
Subsequently, Rivolta was chased by Ivan Lendjer of Serbia earned fourth position of the 100m discipline as he stayed 0.14 seconds behind and clocked a time of 52.54 seconds.
In addition, the position holders were invited on the medal rostrum for awards and accolades at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship while the session ended after the conclusion of all planned races.
