Mireia Belmonte Garcia win Women’s 800m freestyle gold – 2013 Mediterranean Meet
Mireia Belmonte Garcia of Spain won gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle on foremost day of the 2013 Mediterranean Meet in Marseille, France, on Friday, March 1.
Garcia devastated hopes of her opponents in the distant freestyle discipline and cruised her way towards the finishing end for gold medal. She remained in a comfortable lead over her challengers and touched the wall for the title.
With her impeccable pace, she remained two body lengths faster from her following swimmer and secured the title by producing an effort of 8 minutes and 31.09 seconds.
She was followed by Beatriz Gomez Cortes, who stayed 2.23 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the wall for silver medal by reporting an effort of 8 minutes and 33.32 seconds.
Gomez was chased by Claudia Dasca Romeu of Spain, who was almost four seconds behind and stepped on the finishing end for third position by reporting a time of 8 minutes and 37.01 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Maria Vilas Vidal of Spain, who was considerably slower from overpowering her former finisher and settled on the finishing end as fourth position holder with an effort of 8 minutes and 54.52 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was secured by Camille Amardeilh of France, who was nearly 19 seconds behind and concluded her race in a time of 9 minutes and 13.77 seconds.
Amardeilh was followed by Luisa Trombetti of Italy, who was only 0.01 seconds slower and ended her race in sixth place by reporting an effort of 9 minutes and 13.78 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Elisabeth Arpal Salvador of Spain, who was nearly half a body length slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 9 minutes and 14.44 seconds.
Salvador was trailed by Nuria Ciuro Boixadera of Spain, who was unable to overwhelm any of her competitors and finished her race in eighth place by reporting an effort of 9 minutes and 22.70 seconds.
Furthermore, Belmonte Garcia received a huge round of applause from the audience for her commendable form after the session.
