Mireia Belmonte Garcia wins Women’s 200m butterfly gold – 2013 Mediterranean Meet
Mireia Belmonte Garcia of Spain won gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on day one of the 2013 Mediterranean Meet in Marseille, France on Friday, March 1.
The Spanish swimmer remained prominent over her opponents for the title from the start. With her unrelenting efforts, she showed no mercy to her challengers and tapped the wall for the gold medal.
Her epic pace placed her in a comfortable lead over her toughest challenger as she tapped the wall for the title with an effort of 2 minutes and 09.39 seconds.
The champion was followed by Judit Ignacio Sorribes of Spain, who was almost 0.80 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall for silver medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 10.18 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Claudia Dasca Romeu of Spain, who was nearly three and a half body lengths behind and stepped on the podium for bronze medal by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 13.64 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Carla Campo Casajus of Spain, who was full body length behind and settled on the finishing end for fourth position with a time of 2 minutes and 14.55 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Beatrice Restori of Italy, who was almost six seconds slower and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 20.55 seconds.
Sixth position of the swim was obtained by Maria Vilas Vidal of Spain, who was one and a half body lengths behind and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 22.08 seconds.
Vilas was traced by Emeline Biehlmann of France, who stayed nearly six seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end for seventh place with the timing of 2 minutes and 28.80 seconds.
Eighth spot of the race was gained by Chloe Parsemain of France, who was nearly seven seconds slower and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 35.03 seconds.
Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades at the victory ceremony of the tournament after the conclusion of session.
