Mirena, IUD? How long after it is "inserted" does the "spotting" stop?

It has been about 1 1/2 weeks now and the spotting is still here. I was wondering if any one know how long this would typically last. I understand each person is different.

I spotted every day for the first month or so everyday. That  lasted until my first menstral cycle, then i still spotted off and on for another week then everything stopped for a couple months.  I do get some break thru bleeding during the month, but it is very light spotting and seems to be only during the daytime hours.  I know its weird.  My doc recently gave me some bc pilss to take for a month and he said that will get everything regular again.  i havent tried them cause i havent came on yet and I really dont want to mess with that.  It gets better after a month or so, just hang in there.  I know it got pretty frustrating for me and my man that first few months cause it seem like i was bleeding more thatn I wasnt.  But like I said it has gotten much better.  I have a period about every 2 months and it is very light, but a little longer than it used to be.  I like mine, I tuffed it out and it is working good for us now.  Good luck
