Mirena Birth Control Users?!!?

I had Mirena insterted about 2 months ago and i have had constant spotting since! I am wondering when this will go away or even if this is normal? Before having this placed i hadn't gotten my period since i was breastfeeding but now i bleed lightly everyday. Im getting very frustrated and just hoping this will stop, i need the control but i do not want to live the next 5 years spotting; i feel gross and uncomfortable. Please help w/ suggestions or experience.

  1. I had that, too. I've had it in for about three or four months now and the spotting had stopped. It's well worth it if you can wait out the spotting. Just invest in some panty liners....

  2. I know it's frustrating. I spotted/bled for about 2-3 months, but it did eventually stop.  Stick with it a while longer if you can.

  3. Try to hang with it a little longer.

I don't think that I had spotting for that many weeks in a row, but I've had mine in for... close to 2 1/2 years now, and I think it's great.

Occasionally, I will get some very light spotting (hardly enough to even bother with a pad or anything), but I haven't had any periods at all since before I got pregnant with my son (IUD was inserted at about 6-8 weeks postpartum).

My doctor told me that everyone would react differently to the Mirena, but ideally in 6 months to a year everyone would see a vast reduction in their periods, so if you can stick with it to at least the 6 month mark, you'll probably be seeing incredible results.

    Good luck!
