Hey Girls I was wondering whether anyone could help me out here? I am going to have the Mirena Coil fitted 4TH September and my hymen is not broken cos am still a virgin!!!

What I wanna know is after it is fitted do you still get your period after it is fitted and does it become lighter or is it as heavy as I am having them at present? Also I hear the periods stop completely after 12months?

And once it has been fitted are the periods come lighter or what?

I am just curious to find out what happens?

  1. I am hoping to get the mirena soon, an dI am also a virgin. I am getting it for period problems and also contraception for the future. I have tried the pill, progesterone only pill and the pill injection. They will not give me an implant as my bloody pressure is quite high. You CAN get the mirena if you are a virgin, however it is harder to see the opening to your cervix and so can there for be more painful to do.
Don't be worrying about the responses here, there is a HUGE difference between "wanting to become an adult and all" (which came across very patrionising) and wanting to sort out your periods and stay safe if you are thinking about having s*x.
The positive point of the mirena, is it thins the lining of  your womb; however this is what it aims to do, and does not always work.
I would recommend trying the progesterone only pill first to see how your body reacts to being pumped with progesterone.
    Hope this helped
