I had the Mirena device since April 2007. my period has recently gotten really light...I only use pantiliners now... I am feeling sick, sleepy, and really moody (just ask my boyfriend, he could kill me right now)...I feel the same way that I felt when I was pregnant with my daughter...could i be pregnant?...could something else be wrong?...I am thinking about calling my ob/gyn but I don't want to look stupid cuz I am still getting my period pretty much on schedule...so I shouldn't be pregnant right?....

Also...I can't take a hpt cuz they don't work for me...they always read negative no matter what...something to do with tilted reproductive organs...and I am worried because my blood type is A-, Rh-...so my body attacks anything that is not normally in my body...like a baby...and I have had a miscarriage before and I could not stand to have another....so someone advise me please before I drive myself crazy.

  1. Well if you think you might be pregnant you need to see your doctor immediately.  Getting pregnant while using Mirena can be very dangerous.  It increases your chances of miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy.  You probably are not pregnant because Mirena causes you to have very thin uterine lining and that is probably the cause of the light periods.  But, you know your body, if you think you might be pregnant, then you might be.  See your doctor.  Good Luck.

  2. its not that bad to go to the DR if you might be pregnant.

You need to get your blood drawn so a doctor can tell you.

People get pregnant with birth control alot,

so its not a bad question. you need to find out soon

    that way if you are,

they can HELP you and the baby.

  3. Hi,

I think the most important thing to start with is to get your baby into a good sleep routine.  I had massive problems with getting my 4 month old son to sleep.  He would just lie awake and cry for hours, then when he finally went to sleep he would wake every hour or two hours through the night and cry again!  Talk about pulling our hair out .... we were absolutely desperate for sleep!

It was a baby sleep audio program recommended by a friend that finally saved us. We followed the advice and began by creating a baby sleep routine which included bathtime, dimming of the lights, putting James into his crib, final nappy change and then lullabies. We also made recommended changes to his naps during the day and used some of the other recommended techniques. Within two weeks he was sleeping through the night most nights with just the odd night where he would just wake once!

Definitely start by creating a good baby sleep routine though and you could find that solves most of your baby sleep problems.

    Good luck!

  4. I have a Mirena too.  It contains hormones that work to minimise/stop your periods but that may also cause PMT type symptoms.  I would hazard a guess and say the hormones are causing your symptoms but if you are worried about being pregnant, take a test.  It's unlikely as Mirena acts to physically prevent sperm making it to your eggs, to reduce the endometrial lining, to prevent implantation of a fertilised egg, and increase mucus in your cervix as another barrier to those pesky sperm.  If you are not pregnant and the side-effects are unbearable go see your doc and ask for a coil that does not contain hormones.  Good luck.

  5. since your period is still coming and that device is prob just making it light, however you will feel better if you know for sure, so go to ur doctor.
