Mirko De Falco and Guglielmo Giordano happy with early lead: 2012 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series
Second act of the 2012 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series in under way at the Portoferraio under ideal sailing conditions featuring 24 Melges 20 teams to have tremendous sailing competitions. After the first day sailing on the Portoferraio waters, Pecceré skippered
by Mirko De Falco and navigated by Guglielmo Giordano was able to claim overall lead.
First race of the day started perfectly for the pair but during their campaign, they failed to maintain a commanding position and tumbled down in the race to finish on ninth place. Meanwhile, the second race proved to be handy for them as a second finish
in the race brought them on higher podiums.
A third in the third race proved to be the icing on the cake as the duo confirmed their top position. The fourth race was once again a lower finish for them but still it did not affect their position and they finish on top of the standings with 21 points.
The pair was quite delighted after grabbing the lead.
Speaking to the local media, De Falco said, “Four beautiful races with perfect weather. We are delighted with our performance and hope to do as well tomorrow, while maintaining the same level. We are a crew that has raced together for a long time and should
not be underestimated at the beginning season.”
