The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hannover-96-c39492 manager has expressed his delight after beating Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga at home this weekend.
Hannover manager, Mirko Slomka, has expressed his pleasure after his side were able to defeat the high-flying Foals at the weekend. Both sides locked heads on Sunday, April 1, at the AWD-arena with the hosts winning 2-1. Didier
Ya Konan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Håvard-Nordtveit-c15896 netted for the visitors.
Neither of the sides was able to break the deadlock in the first period with the first goal of the game coming in the 57th minute when Konan found the net. Slomka admitted that both sides performed below-par in the first
45 minutes but hailed his players for a sensational performance in the second-half.
The tactician mentioned that his players were feeling confident before the game and this victory is a result of the hard work his side has put in. He insisted that the victory will also help in Hannover’s UEFA Europa League second-leg
against Atletico Madrid where they need to score one goal to get level on aggregate with the La Liga outfit.
While talking to official Bundesliga website, Bundesliga.de, the former Schalke boss further added:
“Neither team were very good in the first half, there were a lot of errors. In the second period we improved massively, thankfully. It was a victory for our confidence and enormously important with a view to our Europa League match.
If we'd have lost, it would have been down to our negligence in midfield.”
On the other hand, Gladbach manager, Lucien Favre expressed his frustration after dropping all the three points yet again. The Foals had been extremely inconsistent for the past few weeks and as a result have fallen behind Schalke
in the league standings. Favre accepted that his side lost focus in the last quarter-of-an-hour and were miserable to the say the least.
“We made an awful lot of mistakes and lost the ball far too often. That was clear in the final 30 minutes. We need to rediscover that final 15 per cent. We can't forget where we came from - we need to fight for every point,” the
boss concluded.
As a result, Hannover now find themselves fifth in the league standings with 41 points, 10 behind the fourth placed Monchengladbach. The Foals, on the other hand, are three points adrift of the Schalke.
