Real Valladolid coach, Miroslav Dukic, has hailed the performance his players have shown against Real Betis last night. Valladolid pulled off a narrow 1-0 victory with 10 men over Betis in the Copa del Rey
Valladolid got the break through just before half-time thanks to Bueno’s goal. Although the hosts went down to ten men on the 65th minute of the match, they still managed to hold on and will now go to the second-leg
with their one-goal advantage.
Dukic was surely excited and has congratulated the resilience shown by his players. He admitted that his team did not play beautiful football but that he was pleased with how his men have competed.
“The result is very good. I’m especially pleased with how the team competed. We didn't play beautiful football but it was very practical, very competitive.”
The Serbian coach has spoken on the hard work displayed by his team, specially the defenders who managed to keep Betis at an arm’s length.
“The players worked extremely hard, closed Betis down well, and our defence did an amazing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.”
The 46-year-old has also commented on the sending off of his defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Henrique-Sereno-c16076, and how that affected their game. He is impressed with how his team came together and handled the situation.
“The team grew into the game after the sending off. Some of the lads have really taken their opportunity tonight.”
Meanwhile, Real Betis coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 Mel, has not lost hope and feels there is more to play for in the second-leg.
“We're not far off. There’s still 90 minutes to play in Sevilla and I think that game will be very good for us.”
He also believes the score of the match did not reflect how well his team played and that a draw would have been a fair result for his side.
“In tonight's match we had more of the ball, better tempo, but just couldn't finish. I think a draw would have been a fair result.”
Both teams will be getting ready for action in La Liga. Real Valladolid will face Osasuna while Betis travels to Getafe.
