The Germany striker is delighted to see the quality in Die Mannschaft’s camp, and is confident of a good finish to the Euro 2012.
Germany started the European Championship on the back of two straight defeats and an unconvincing win. Now they find themselves sitting proudly at the top of ‘the Group of Death’.
Die Mannschaft cruised to three straight victories in their Group B fixtures, beating the likes of Portugal, Netherlands and Denmark. The Germans have been lauded by many for their mental strength and ability to revert to Plan
B when the pretty football is not effective.
Joachim Low’s side boast the lowest average in the tournament and they have so much experience on the bench. Former Bayern Munich striker Miroslav Klose is one of the few experienced people on the bench.
The striker reveals that the spirit in training is sky high; everyone is working hard, not just the first teamers. After Lars Bender’s performance, the squad players are hopeful their hard work will pay off.
“Everyone is giving their best, even the ones who don’t play. We have great guys in backup,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.
The Lazio man hails the depth in Germany’s, as he believes all of the squad players have the quality to start a match and perform well.
“It is fantastic to see how everyone is acting in training. Today [Sunday] you could see that we can put everyone in,” he added.
After their defeat to Denmark, Die Nationalelf face Greece in the quarter-finals. Fernando Santos’s side have a reputation for stifling their opponents and parking the bus.
Klose reckons his side will have to be patient. They should not panic and keep playing their own game. The former Werder Bremen man further states that his side are the favourites but they will have to be modest.
“I am convinced we will have our chances, even if they will sit deep. We have to play our game, then we will remain favourites and will win,” he further added.
Germany are bookies’ favourites at 3.30/1 to lift the Euro 2012 trophy on the 1st of July. Depsite playing like potential Champions, Joachim Low’s men will have to respect their opponents, and take their chances.
