Miroslav Klose injured while on international duty
German international striker Miroslav Klose will likely be out of the lineup for his club team Bayern Munich when they take on Hannover in the German Bundesliga on Saturday, October 16.
Klose picked up a hamstring injury, limping off the field in the 55th minute of Germany's 3-0 win over Kazakhstan on Tuesday night.
"This is very bitter," Klose said, according to
Spox. "I feel a really strong tightness in the muscle."
Klose had a tremendous week for his country, as Germany had a pair of 3-0 victories against Kazakhstan and Turkey, with Klose scoring three goals along the way
– two against Turkey and one against Kazakhstan.
Before being subbed off with the injury, Klose had scored only seven minutes earlier to give Germany a 1-0 lead.
Klose has been a prolific scorer for his country and now stands with 58 goals, placing him second in German international scoring, just behind the legendary Gerd Muller.
Germany has soared to the top of the Group A Euro 2012 qualifying standings with four wins from four matches, and has scored 13 goals while conceding only one. Klose himself has scored six of those 13 goals.
Although Klose's performance for his club side has never been as impressive as his international record, Bayern Munich will still feel the sting of his absence.
Klose has just a single goal in the league this season and Bayern Munich has struggled so far. With just two victories in seven matches, Bayern currently sit in the bottom half of the table with  just eight points, and a full 13 points behind the improbable
league leaders Mainz.
Last season's Champions League runners up have been perfect so far this season in the Champions League, with two wins from two matches. Klose has one Champions League goal so far this season.
