Mirza likely to prevail in RIU Palace Meloneras Handicap
Mirza is expected to finish on top of the table in the RIU Palace Meloneras Handicap at Pontefract in England on Monday, April 23, 2012. The winner of the class-2 event will bag a cash prize of £11,828.
The going will be good to soft in the 6 furlong race, which will test the speed of all runners. The action is scheduled to start at 15:15 GMT and a total of 17 entries have been confirmed for it.
Following are the runners, who will be seen in action today: Mirza, Nasri, Parisian Pyramid, Docofthebay, Shropshire, Seal Rock, Osteopathic Remedy, Citrus Star, Coolminx, Victoire De Lyphar, Fred Willetts, Grissom, Tajneed, Clockmaker, Wildcat Wizard, Crown
Choice and No Hubris.
Out of the above mentioned horses, Mirza has the best chances of winning the race, as he appears to be in very good form. The bookies have shown full faith in his abilities and the punters might also place a lot of bets in his favour.
The five-year-old gelding has 14 races until now, winning four of them. Moreover, he has also secured the runner up spot once, which shows that he is a fierce competitor. His recent form is also impressive, as he finished on top of the table in his previous
outing.
Despite not being the favourite in his last outing, Mirza caused a lot of problems for his rivals and took victory by more than one length. A similar sort of show is expected from him today as well.
The Rae Guest’s trainee will be ridden by William Carson, who is a seasoned rider, but lacks consistency. However, his recent record shows that he has made a lot of improvement, thus the bettors will be risking some money in his favour.
Seal Rock, trained by Henry Candy, has also won pretty decent odds for the race, as he is a quality runner. He won three back to back races at the start of his career, but his form dipped afterwards.
However, the four-year-gelding has the tools to deliver a strong show today and he will definitely cause problems for his opponents in the race.
Other than the top two favourites, Nasri, Parisian Pyramid, Docofthebay and Shropshire might also be the ones to watch out for in the race.
