Question:

Mis-spellings and grammatical errors in Twilight books?

I'll probably get executed for asking this...

And I'm not the first person I know who has noticed this...

But have any of you noticed in the Twilight series, in ALL the books, there are mis-spellings and grammatical errors?

I'd try to re-read and re-read those certain parts to decipher why that certain word or sentence was written that way. And I'd come to the conclusion, that "Nope. It's -is- a mistake." How strange because I'm kind of a book worm and I've NEVER seen mistakes in books before.

I think Stephenie Meyer should fire her proofreader(s). Hopefully she's not having just family proofread, which I could see being the case. She should at least get a different professional company to proofread.

*Please do not judge my spelling or grammatical errors as I am not a professional writer. Thank you.

  1. I didn't notice..... Would someone mind adding like examples? I'm not like executing you i was just wondering what they were.

  2. I never write in books, but Twilight was an exception, the book is filled with heaps of mistakes, and even I a FOREIGNER, meaning English is not my first language, can tell that they're mistakes. I had to use post-it notes, to point out the mistakes.

  3. I noticed it too.  It bothered me a lot.  Also, her writing style was so terrible and her word choice was awful.  Because of all that, to get through the book Twilight (because my friend's forced me to read it), I had to force myself to skim the book.  I could not stand the writing, so I just gave up on it and read it for the plot (which it turns out that I didn't like either).  I also had to stop myself from writing in the book for all the mistakes (it was my friend's book, and she's a Twilight lover, so I pretty much would have been murdered for pointing out mistakes in the book).  I think it's ridiculous that so many people read these books and just ignore the mistakes, while still claiming that Stephanie Meyer is an amazing writer; it just makes me sad for the future of literature.

  5. actually, i do remember doing exactly the same thing you did, re-read them to try to make sense.

ha, i thought i was going crazy ! but apparently there ARE mistakes! nice to know i'm not the only one who noticed :)

  6. Yes, there are. Some of them I don't think are technically mistakes, but they just make the sentence sound weird. Like I've noticed a lot of times the word "that" is missing where it doesn't NEED to be, but it would sound better.

  7. I have never read the Twilight Series but I have read ALOT of other books and I am afraid to say that if you really pay close attention to any book you read, you will find spelling errors and grammar mistakes in every single one of them. It is just human error on the publishing and printing side of things.

  8. Yeah! I love the Twilight series and all, but I do recognize a lot of errors in them. I hate it that with all of the buzz around this book, no one corrects them before they go to the printers. Oh well. It's not my book...

  9. yeah i did notice lol

  10. i only noticed one big mistake- a start of a sentence that was never finished.  it was completely out of place and made no sense.

otherwise, i've seen mistakes in other books for sure.  it happens.  people are jumping on sm for it but they are in other books too.

  11. Yeah the books have mistakes but that doesn't draw attention away from the amazing book she's written. Her proofreader just missed a couple of points that's all.

  12. Yes, I have noticed. When these things come up, you can notify the publishers and they'll fix the mistakes the next time they print more. And I've also noticed mistakes in other books, too. Mostly mistakes like using ' for the start quote and " for the end quote and vice versa, but there are some occasional spelling and grammar errors, too.
