Misaki Matsutomo-Ayaka Takahashi storm into Women’s Doubles final at Canada Open Grand Prix
Japan’s talented shuttlers Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi showed a tremendous performance and powered their way into Women’s Doubles final at the Yonex Canada Open Grand Prix 2012 at Richmond, Canada, on Saturday, July 14.
In the semi-final clash, Misaki and Ayaka outplayed their lower ranked compatriots Naoko Fukuman and Kurumi Yonao quite impressively.
Misaki and Ayaka, who are top seeds in Women’s Doubles main draw of the championship, continued their powerful performance on court and managed to overpower their country-mates in a spectacular fashion.
The top seeded Misaki and Ayaka played remarkable badminton and took the first game with a decent margin. However, they showed a tremendous performance in the second set and overpowered their rivals in a one-sided fashion.
The un-seeded Naoko and Kurumi, on the other hand, gave a good fight in opening set remained unlucky in ending points and lost it with a close score. However, they failed to put up a strong resistance and lost the battle without grabbing any set in 41 minutes.
In the first game, Misaki and Ayaka played in a dominating manner as they played aggressive badminton by controlling the pace from all areas of the court.
The higher ranked Misaki and Ayaka were in smashing form as they set up a sensational lead of 11-6 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the top seeded Misaki and Ayaka continued putting up impressive play without showing any respect to their opponents and eventually took the game with a decent 21-18 score on the board.
In the second game, Misaki and Ayaka were everywhere on court as they played controlled badminton and pushed their challengers on back foot without putting in extra effort.
Until the mid-game interval, the top seeded Japanese shuttlers were leading at 11-3.
After the break, Misaki and Ayaka continued their killing performance without dropping the pace of the game and remained successful in ending up the second set with a stunning margin of 21-9.
Misaki and Ayaka won this Women’s Doubles semi-final battle against Naoko and Kurumi in straight games with a smashing 21-18 and 21-9 score on the board.
