http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team, Kamran Akmal gets the boot
Pakistan have named their squad for the ODI and the T20I series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 but have not named the captain of the side yet. Amongst the surprises, Misbah-ul-Haq is making a comeback to the squad,
while wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal has been shown the door.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, who was the captain of the Pakistani side in the ODIs and the T20Is against England, is a part of the squad but is yet to be confirmed as the captain of the side. On the other hand, the selectors
seem to have paid heed to the growing concerns around the poor showing with the gloves behind the stumps of Akmal and have dropped him from the side. Akmal’s wicket-keeping has grown alarmingly bad and the number of dropped catches, missed stumpings and fumbles
behind the wicket have not abated.
Akmal has also been one of the more controversial players in the team and was allegedly linked with the spot-fixing scandal on the tour of the England. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 Yard did not question him but there have
been suggestions his dropped catches in the infamous Sydney Test match were somehow tied to match fixing.
Misbah averages a healthy 39 in ODIs and 33 in the T20I format of the game but he had had a poor previous season and was dropped from the side. A disgruntled Misbah had then declared that he would give it
a shot till the World Cup 2011 but if he did not get picked, he would retire from the game.
Former Pakistan coach, Intikhab, Alam has also been appointed as the manager of the side after the previous manager, Yawar Saeed resigned from the spot.
There is no place in the side for the three cricketers accused of spot-fixing; Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir. All three cricketers were provisionally suspended by the International Cricket
Council and have appealed against the suspension. However, they will cannot represent Pakistan till they are cleared of the charges.
