While speaking to media reporters at Lahore airport, after returning home from Dubai, Misbah said that the team performed well throughout the series, except for the final one-dayer at Sharjah, where poor fielding was the major reason behind their three-wicket defeat in the series decider.
"No doubt we struggled to dominate in batting and didn't take command on the field but we tried to select the best playing eleven for all the matches," Misbah said.
The 2-1 hammering at the hands of Aussies was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s second successive ODI series defeat since the Asia Cup victory, and many blame Misbah’s poor batting as well as his passive captaincy for the humiliation. Misbah, however, made it clear that he had no intentions to bid farewell to ODI cricket, or step down from the captaincy role.
"I enjoy the honour of leading Pakistan in ODIs and Tests and take pride in my own personal performances,” said the 38-year-old middle order batsman. “It is disappointing we lost to Australia but we need to move on and learn from our mistakes. Definitely, we need improvements in different areas as we are repeating same mistakes," he added further.
The Pakistan skipper also admitted that not taking a review against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brent-Fraser-Bowden-c48388 turned down the lbw appeal. Pakistan decided not to review, however replays showed Misbah should have reviewed that decision.
Pakistan has not defeated Australian in an ODI series over the past 10 years, and Misbah said that they missed a golden chance to improve their one-day record against the Kangaroos.
“It was the golden chance to win against Australia as some senior players were out of team but we missed it,” said Misbah, who was appointed as Pakistan’s skipper in June last year, after PCB sacked Afridi as the limited-overs skipper in the aftermath of a media outburst.
