Defending selectors' decision to snub http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 said that he has done a wonderful job as captain but it is time to move on and start afresh in the shortest format of the game.
"Misbah has done a wonderful job as captain in difficult times for Pakistan cricket and we salute him. But it is time to move on and everyone felt we need to start afresh in T20 cricket," Ashraf said at a press conference called on Thursday to announce PCB’s new policy decisions.
The PCB chief, who took over from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 in October last year, said that the board and selectors still have a lot of confidence in the middle order batsman and this is the reason they have retained him as the captain of the national team for Tests and One Day Internationals.
Misbah, who was appointed as the Test captain of Pakistan team in October 2010, was given the reins of ODI and T20 sides in June 2011, after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in May last year.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 will be his deputy in the Test and one day series against the Islanders. Zaka Ashraf hoped the two will complement each other well when playing as captain and vice captain.
"They have done well in the past and we hope this partnership will continue in future as well," said the PCB chairman reiterating that board will not compromise on discipline. "…no compromise on discipline if we have to take hard decisions we will take it even if it means losing key players," he said.
Misbah, who will turn 38 on 28th of this month, said that he was not disappointed at losing T20 captaincy and assured that he will be there to support Hafeez when leading in the shortest format of the game.
"Changes are always made in cricket and the board and selectors must have taken decisions after much thought and I will be there to support Hafeez," said Misbah.
