Flamboyant Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who has been overlooked for the one-day leg of the upcoming http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972.
Misbah’s latest comments have come after seeing Afridi’s impressive performances in the week-long conditioning camp, underway at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, since December 14.
The hard-hitting right-handed batsman, who has been overlooked for the One Day Internationals but is part of the T20 squad, smashed two back-to-back half centuries in 50-over practice matches, including a 64-ball 92 on Wednesday, to press his case for an ODI recall.
"If his form remains like this and we need him, we will definitely consider him," Misbah said during a media encounter at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. "The form of senior players, who are experienced enough, is very important. They are seniors, whenever you give performances like this it will be good for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755," he went on to add.
Afridi, the 32-year-old former captain of Pakistan, has endured an extended lean patch over the last two years. In his last 16 One Day International appearances, the right-hander has scored just 182 runs, with only one half centuries, and in his last 12 innings across all formats of the game, he has scored runs at a meagre average of just 6.30.
The flamboyant all-rounder also failed to make an impact in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dolphins-c781, scored 75 runs in five innings, and claimed seven wickets at 18.00.
However, Afridi looked composed and controlled with the bat during the recent one-day practice matches in Lahore, playing strokes with a straight bat rather than fishing at deliveries. However, if he is to cement his place in the side, he would have to score consistently and improve his bowling as well.
