Misbah not drawn into spot fixing debate – Cricket News Update
Speaking ahead of the third Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 inevitably, was also quizzed about the spot fixing saga, but the Men In Green leader remained astute in his stance.
The return of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675, following the players release after serving half of his jail term, caused a renewed interest in the controversy, which the sub-continents giants had quelled in their recent demolishing of the Poms in the first two Tests at UAE.
The infamous incident, which took place in 2010, led to high profile bans for three Pakistani players – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Asif-c1993 and Amir after all were charged for deliberating throwing facets of the match involving their current opponents.
Apart from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 imposing their own verdict of excluding the players from the sports (for at least 5 years), they were also handed jail terms in November for their respective involvement.
Ironically, Amir was sent to a young offender’s prison where he served a half of his sentence (three months) before being released early in the week.
Two years later, the Men In Green have gone impressively on the field of cricket – performing well and justifying their passion for the game. Their refurbishment has been largely attributed to the leadership qualities of Misbah, under whom the team has gone
from strength to strength in cementing their tainted reputation.
It includes an impressive showing against the current No. 1 ranked team where they have shown remarkable consistency to emerge convincing victorious in the opening two encounters.
However, the skipper was attacked with a barrage of questions over his stance of the young pacer, Amir, where Misbah was keen to focus on the third Test.
"I think I am not the concerned person, the people who are concerned about that will decide about it. We are playing here and we are focusing on that."It's totally up to the management, what the ICC decides and what the cricket board decides, I think it's
not my decision," said Misbah.
"I have clearly said that we have nothing to do with that, once he is cleared, once he is available then only we will see what happens, before that I have nothing to do with that,” stated Misbah.
