Misbah retaliate critics and requested patience – Cricket News Update
After winning the first T20 match against England at Dubai, Pakistani skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 has taken a swipe at his detractors and called on them to play a positive role in backing-up the team.
In his post-match winning press conference, Misbah warned the media, in particular, to highlight and discuss relevant matters rather than simply spreading negativity by focusing on highly unrelated subjects.
"We go on to discuss things that don't need to be discussed - when we perform badly we should talk about that, we should talk about weak areas in the team. People in the media make comments based on furthering their own agendas, not ground realities. This
needs to stop; the media should think positively,” Misbah said.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 whitewashed England in the three-match Test series before suffering a similar fortune after being defeated 0-4 in the one-dayers, which prompted the critics to call for changes in the team and more importantly, the captaincy.
The skipper, however, has responded with disapproval by reflecting that sudden changes have played a big reason in the team’s unsatisfactory performances in the past, while also backed his players despite the overwhelming ODI series loss.
"We cannot improve if we continuously ask for captains and teams to be replaced after losing one series. You have to back your players at a certain level," the 37-year old veteran said.
Under the leadership of the veteran, who took over in 2010, the Men In Green have yet to lose a Test series and their defeat in the recently concluded 50-over (series) was their first since Misbah took charge of the limited-over side in June 2011.
He also helped his team to post a respectable total in the first T20 against England after the top order failed to play long-lasting hands, while showed his shrewd leadership capabilities by effectively saving his best bowlers for the final few overs, which
helped the team to claim a narrow 8-run victory.
Apart from being a consistent run-getter for his team since becoming captain, the 37-year-old has worked ably to restore his team’s tainted reputation following the spot-fixing saga which led to high-profile bans to the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Asif-c1993
