Misbah takes positives from youngsters performance against Sri Lanka – Cricket News Update
Despite losing the three-match Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, is not too downcast and believes there are positives to be taken from the lost affair - youngsters’ encouraging performance
being at the top.
“The positive is the way the young guys have performed. A plus for us is the way http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Ali-c46890 is becoming a real strong lad for us,” said Misbah, who on Thursday, digested his first Test series defeat since
taking over as Pakistan skipper in mid-2010.
The 38-year-old middle-order batsman from Mianwali had a special word of praise for rookie pace bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s wrecker-in-chief all through the series and kept troubling the opposition batsmen
by moving the ball both ways.
“He bowls his outswingers and inswingers to the batsmen and surprises them with bouncers sometimes,” said Misbah of Junaid Khan, who returned as the second highest wicket-taker of the series, with 14 scalps in three matches,
at an impressive average of 21.78.
“It's good to have this sort of bowler in the side especially on wickets that are not suited for him. He's a big find for us,” the visiting skipper added further.
Since taking over Pakistan’s Test skipper two years ago, Misbah has converted the side into a powerful Test unit. Before the Sri Lanka series, Pakistan had drawn one and won six series, including a 4-0 series whitewash of
world’s number one Test side, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, in January this year.
But they looked timid against the Islanders, in the recently concluded Test series. After faltering miserably against the hosts in the series opener at Galle, Misbah’s men showed a strong fight in the next two matches, but
never got a chance to square the series with a win at SCG or PICS, with weather also playing its part.
Asked about his feelings after facing his first Test series defeat as captain, Misbah said that a defeat is always morale sapping. However, he expressed satisfaction with the way his team fought in the last two games.
“A loss is a loss and whenever you have a lost a series, it's not good for the team,” said Misbah, after the draw in the third Test at Pallekele confirmed a 0-1 series defeat. “But I am really happy with the effort that everybody
put in."
Pakistan will next play http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033, next month.
