http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 backs the UDRS and remains positive about Pakistan's prospects in New Zealand
Pakistan’s middle order batsman and skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq has supported the compulsory use of the Umpire Decision Referral System and has termed it as a necessary part of modern day cricket.
Speaking to the press on the matter, Misbah said, "I think the UDRS should be made compulsory in all international cricket, as I feel it's of help to the umpires as well as to the cricketers."
Pakistan are currently touring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, but the UDRS is not being used during this tour because both the teams chose not to take advantage of this modern technology. The tour consists of three T20 matches, followed by two Test matches, and six ODIs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 have lost the Twenty20 series, however, the visiting side managed to win the first Test, played in Hamilton by 10 wickets.
This victory has been pivotal in lifting Pakistan’s morale; the country’s cricket has seen some of the worst times in its history since last August, when three players in the team, namely Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt, were accused of being
involved in spot-fixing during their tour of England. The trio has been suspended from international cricket since then and recently faced an ICC hearing which would give its judgement regarding the future of the players on the 5th of February.
A spectacular victory against New Zealand, a side known to be extremely tough to beat at home, has been a great new year present for the Pakistan squad.
Misbah, who led the team in Hamilton, wants to wrap up the series with a win in the second and final Test at Wellington.
"Our best policy for the upcoming match at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864 will be to go for a win rather than just consolidating our one-nil lead. I want my team to perform well, play good cricket and look to wrap up the series two-nil", Misbah said.
The mild mannered skipper praised the effort of the young players and insisted that the senior players would have to show better performance to inspire the youngsters in the national squad. He said, "It is very important for senior and experienced players
like myself to set a good example for the youngsters. However, it makes my life so much easier and it's very satisfying when I am given such a responsible and committed group. It is also heartening to listen to inputs from the younger boys in the squad during
group discussions..."
Pakistan take on New Zealand in the second Test at Basin Reserve, Wellington, on the 15th of January.
