Misbah ul Haq does not think not playing IPL is affecting Pakistani players – Cricket News Update
Middle-order batsman and Pakistan’s skipper in Tests and ODIs, Misbah ul Haq, does not agree with the T20 captain, Mohammad Hafeez's opinion that not playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a massive disadvantage for the Green Shirts.
Hafeez expressed earlier this week that Pakistani players are rusty as they have not played competitive cricket for almost two months, whereas, players from all across the globe are enhancing their skills in the cash-rich tournament in India.
No Pakistani player has taken part in IPL after its first season because of the bitter political relations between the neighbouring countries.
While speaking to Pakpassion, Misbah expressed that the preparations of the Pakistani team are going great at the camp in Lahore, which is organized for the upcoming tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) has scheduled four matches for the team to get practice, which should be sufficient for the players.
Misbah said, “The 4 matches that have been planned will be very helpful for us. Each player should utilize these opportunities as this is very good quality practice for playing International cricket with similar scenarios and competitive teams involved. The 2 T20 and 2 ODI games are tremendous practice games which should give us a similar exposure as an international game.”
Most former cricketers outside http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 are of the opinion that IPL is hampering India’s progress in international cricket and it is a ‘blessing in disguise’ for the Pakistani players that they do not take part in the glamorous league, as it also keeps them fresh for the highest level of the sport.
Talking about his input in the shorter format of the game, the veteran cricketer said that he has brotherly relations with Hafeez and he will be always available, if asked for an advice. Misbah believes that cricket is a team game and gone are the days when an individual can call all the shots without consulting the whole team.
“Hafeez and I have always had a very good understanding - not only with Hafeez but with all other players in the team. The team never takes a decision based on one person’s opinion,” he concluded.
