Misbah ul Haq focussing on team-spirit – Cricket News Update
Misbah ul Haq, Pakistan’s One Day International (ODI) and Test skipper, believes that his team will have to be at the top of their game to dismantle Sri Lanka in the upcoming series. The middle-order batsman has also urged his men to focus on team-work rather
than individual brilliances.
After an even contest in the T20 series, where http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and Sri Lanka won a match each, the two teams will compete tomorrow in the first ODI of the five-match series. Most of the cricket analysts believe that Pakistan will start the series as favourites
because of their recent performances in international cricket.
However, the Pakistan captain is of the opinion that Mahela Jayawardene’s men are always tough to beat at their own backyard. The Green Shirts have the services of a number of genuine match-winners, who can change the course of a game single-handedly, but
Misbah expressed that every player must contribute in order to beat the Islanders.
"It's not about one or two players, the whole team have to contribute, because Sri Lanka are tough opponents anywhere, especially at home," insisted Misbah.
Pakistan has made many changes in all the three squads recently and many young players have been given the opportunity to showcase their skills at the highest stage of the game. Some of the new faces, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haris-Sohail-c61503 have returned back home without
playing any match and it remains to be seen whether youngsters will be given chances in the remainder of the tour or not.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665, the left-arm fast bowler, performed well in the T20 matches and was named as the Player of the Series. As a result, he has been retained in the ODI squad. The chief selector of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and former Test cricketer, Iqbal
Qasim has defended the decision by expressing that the Rawalpindi-born cricketer has been given a place in the ODI squad because of his current form.
"In view of the request from the team management and keeping in consideration the current form of Tanvir, the selection committee has decided that he may be retained for the one-day series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758," Iqbal said.
