Extremely disappointed with the performance of his batsmen in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 captain, believes that bowling and fielding are the two positives which the national team can take from the
mega event.
Having lost their initial two group matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 respectively, the Green Shirts have been knocked out of the last edition of the illustrious tournament, with their batting miserably failing to deliver
the goods at the highest stage of the game.
Apart from Misbah and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898, to take the responsibility on his shoulders; however, the
cricketer from Sargodha disappointed one and all.
The Pakistan captain thinks that Hafeez as well as the rest of the batsmen must perform consistently, especially away from the sub-continent, to justify their places in the national team.
“Last year he was one of the top scorers and he's also bowling well. I think being inconsistent is the problem for Pakistan. Not only Hafeez, but most of your top order batsmen, and even middle order batsmen are struggling,” he
said. “Whenever we come to South Africa, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, I think it is like that, and we have to address that on a permanent basis.”
The Green Shirts will take on the arch-rivals, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, in their last pool match of the tournament on Saturday at Birmingham. This encounter provides Misbah’s men a chance to restore some pride.
The 39-year-old cricketer has no words to defend his batsmen but he is pleased with the efforts of the bowlers, who have shown their class in both the group fixtures. Fielding, which has never been Pakistan’s strength, has also
been impressive in the tournament.
“I think the positive is our bowling. They really are bowling very well. The fielding is really improving. That is the biggest positive. But as a batting unit, I think you can say it's total loss,” the cricketer from Mianwali added.
According to the sporting pundits, Pakistan should look to develop young batsmen, instead of tried and tested failures.
