http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 reveals that Afridi is not an automatic selection in the playing-11 – Cricket News
Pakistan’s captain, Misbah-ul-Haq feels that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 can play an important role in the forthcoming tour of West Indies because of the slow nature of pitches there but made it clear that the former
skipper is not an automatic selection in the playing-11.
After being dropped twice this year from the One Day International (ODI) squads for the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, Boom Boom has made his way back
to the national team for the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, which begins from July 14th at Guyana with the opening ODI of the five-match series.
Afridi has been underperforming in international cricket in the last 18 months, having picked up just 15 wickets in 21 matches and averaging less than 20 runs per innings in ODIs since January, 2012.
After the announcement of the ODI and T20 squads for the tour of Caribbean, the ODI and Test captain is optimistic that Afridi will be handy in the West Indian conditions. Misbah said that the 33-year-old
cricketer has replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088, another former captain, in the team combination.
"He is an option who can help us on slower tracks (in the West Indies)," said Misbah. "Malik was the one who had been helping us out with six to seven overs and was handy with the bat as well so Afridi has
been recalled in place of Malik as an extra allrounder.”
The cricketer from Mianwali has made it clear that Boom Boom will have to perform well in order to retain his place in the playing-11. The skipper is satisfied with the selected team and hopes to deliver
the goods in the Caribbean.
"But it doesn't mean he is automatically in the XI. We first have to look at the conditions and then take a call. We are happy with the selection of 16 players and I will be ready to shoulder the responsibility
of any result," the 39-year-old cricketer added.
Apart from Afridi, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Farhat-c64218 have been dropped.
