With Pakistan gearing up to take on West Indies in their opening match of the latest edition of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 has said that winning the first match is very important, adding that the result of the tournament opener will
set the tone for the rest of the matches.
“In this situation first game is very important for any team because you’re only going to play three games in the round,” said Misbah-ul-Haq while speaking to media reporters at the pre-match press conference on Thursday.
“So first win will be really important for any team, because then you’ve the luxury for two more games, just win one and get through to the semi-finals,” he added further.
Total eight teams are participating in the latest edition of the ICC Champions Trophy. The teams have been divided into two groups of four each. Pakistan have been pooled with West Indies, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in Group B, considered as the ‘Group of Death’
by many experts. Whereas, Group A consists of defending champions http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
Each team is scheduled to play three group matches and the top two teams from each group will proceed into the tournament semi finals. Misbah believes winning the first match will also give a team a psychological edge over the other teams, going into the
remaining two group fixtures.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 skipper is once again counting on his bowlers to win the match.
“This bowling attack is really proving themselves against top quality sides in the world,” said the middle order batsman. “We got some of the best spinners, we’ve Hafeez and Ajmal. Everybody knows what difference they can make. And especially the pacers
the way they are bowling I think we are confident that they can just do it, on their day.”
Asked about the team combination for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 game, Misbah said that they will finalise the playing XI only after seeing the pitch and conditions. The Pakistan skipper was confident his side will do well in these conditions; however, he warned the
players against complacency saying it will be a good contest against the Caribbean contingent.
