Misbah ul Haq still happy with his team’s performance – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s Test and One Day International (ODI) skipper, Misbah ul Haq, is disappointed after the loss against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 but is happy with his team’s showing after a disastrous performance in the Galle Test.
The Green Shirts remained unbeaten in the longer version of the sport since the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 in 2010. However, the Lankans dismantled Misbah’s men in the recently concluded series to win by a margin of 1-0.
There was immense criticism on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team after a poor performance in the limited-overs series as well as the opening match of the series. Unfortunately, the captain was not able to take part in the Galle Test as he was banned due to a slow over-rate
in the final ODI at Colombo.
Misbah admitted that his side started the tour as favourites because of their recent performances in international sport but failed to live up to the expectations. The middle-order batsman expressed that his team tried their best to square the series in
the last two matches but to no avail.
"We were hoping for a better result after we lost the first game. Everybody tried well, the team fought hard but then you may say that we were not lucky enough to win again. That happens, but I am really happy with the effort that everybody put in," the
Test captain said.
While talking about the criticism from the Pakistani media, in the aftermath of the series loss, the seasoned campaigner mentioned that some of the journalists have their own vested interests.
Keeping the results aside, the cricketer from Mianwali praised his team’s efforts and still feels that his side is moving in the right direction.
"You can't control it, there are some guys who are always looking for negatives, but I am really happy the way the team fought back,” the 38-year-old added. “Winning and losing is part of the game, we were really nowhere in the first game.”
Pakistan’s next assignment is against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE), where the two teams will play three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals in August/September.
