Geared up for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2013, Misbah-ul-Haq, the Pakistan captain, has admitted that acclimatising in the English conditions would be the biggest challenge for his side if they are to perform well in the mega event.
The Green Shirts played a two-match One Day International (ODI) series against Scotland earlier this month, with the second fixture washed out due to rain. Pakistan played another two-match series against Ireland, with Misbah and company winning the second
ODI after the first one was tied.
The 39-year-old cricketer believes that adjusting to the English conditions for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 have helped the boys.
“I think coming from Pakistan it's really difficult to adjust to the conditions, especially the weather,” he said, “but we have played a game in Scotland and then in Ireland two games, so it really helped us to acclimatise here, especially now it's really
cold here also.”
Pakistan will play their opening fixture of the mega event on June 7, 2013 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
The Pakistan captain believes that the Green Shirts have tasted a lot of success in England in past and in the presence of a huge Pakistani community in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, his team should get a lot of support in the tournament.
“I'd say it's special for us because a lot of fans here are for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket team,” Misbah added. “I haven't played before here, but Pakistan really had a good record here. Even in the last series, Pakistan won a Test match and played really well.
We're really looking forward to enjoying these games.”
The last global tournament played in England, the ICC World T20 2009, was won by Pakistan under the captaincy of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325. Taking into account the Green Shirts’ performance in recent global tournaments, Pakistan team are going to be a force in the forthcoming
tournament, which kicks-off from June 6.
