Misbah-ul-Haq urges players to work hard in all three departments – Cricket News Update
Pakistan skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 has urged his players to improve in all three departments of the game after the Men in Green lost the second One Day International of the five-match series against Sri Lanka by 76 runs.
Chasing an intimidating total of 280 for 4, set by the Tillakaratne Dilshan led Sri Lankan batting line-up, the whole team of Pakistan was bundled out for just 204 in the 47th over. Azhar Ali’s 96 went in vain, as the rest of
the visiting batsmen were all off colour. The second highest individual score from Pakistan was their skipper’s 27, while the rest of the batting line up fell for scores inside 20, including four single digit outings.
Thisara Perera orchestrated a career-best bowling performance returning with figures of 6 for 44 from 10 overs.
Speaking to the media reporters after the match, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 skipper admitted that the hosts were better than them in all three departments of the game.
“We have to work really hard in all three departments. They were better than us in all three departments," the visiting skipper lamented.
Earlier, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 (53 off 45 balls) and Thisara Perera (24 off 22 balls), helped the hosts set an intimidating target of 281 runs.
"They played really well. Their opening partnership was very good. Dilshan, Mahela, then the finish,” said Misbah at the post match presentation ceremony. “The wicket was very good. The way we started it was gettable. When me and Umar
Akmal, the game turned," he added further .
Whilst Misbah returned as the second highest run scorer last night (27 from 35 balls), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595, who played a key role in Pakistan’s six-wicket win over the Islanders in the rain ruined series opener, failed to deliver last night, holing
out for just three runs.
The five-match series is now levelled at 1-1, while the third One Day International between Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.
