Pakistan’s skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has admitted that his side’s batting needs to improve during the ongoing five match One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE).
The Men in Green are currently 2-1 up in the series with a couple of more games to go. They will look to overcome the opposition in the fourth ODI at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday, November 20, 2011.
Although Misbah and his men have been playing consistently well in recent times, the skipper believes that batting is a concern for them.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 were in a commanding position in the third match of the series after opting to bat first at the toss.
Openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Farhat-c64218 gave an exceptional start to the team with a 151-run stand for the first wicket. It appeared that the team would easily score more than 300 at that stage, but a sudden collapse saw the team score only 257 runs for
the loss of eight wickets at the end of their allotted 50 overs.
Commenting on this batting display, Misbah said, “This is an area of concern for us. The set batsman in the middle should carry on their good work to finish the innings well. Our batting did not click in the middle overs [in Dubai]. Though 257 was a good
total, at one stage we thought we may not even reach 240 runs.”
However, the 37-year-old was still pleased with the overall effort of his side and said, “Victory is always good. The way we scored and also bowled was excellent but we have to improve in certain areas.”
On the other hand, Sri Lanka also failed to capitalise on the start to their innings and went onto lose the match by 21 runs. The top-order performed well for the visitors, but no one managed to finish the game by batting until the end.
All-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AD-Mathews-c913 tried his best and batted until the end, but lacked support from the other end, as the entire team was dismissed for 236 in 48.5 overs.
The Sri Lankan side will have to play extremely well from here onwards, as they need to win the final two games in order to seal the series.
