party of any elite shuttler on a given day.
The spirited Malaysian played fabulous badminton against Gonansa in the first set. He matched the speed of his opponent and earned a few points by executing beautiful jumping smashes. His speed was the main element in this match which helped him in reaching
at 11-9 until the break.
After the interval, Gonansa changed his tactics by injecting more power in his strokes but Misbun Ramdan returned all his shots effectively. The score remained tied until the ending points when the Malaysian played some incredible strokes to bag the opening
game by a 21-19 margin in 19 minutes.
The following set was almost identical to the first game as both players remained neck-to-neck. Gonansa tried to dominate the rallies by pacing up his speed, but Misbun Ramdan was everywhere in the court and left no space for the Singaporean to clinch points.
Until the break, the Malaysian was ahead at 11-9.
