Misbun Ramdan claims Men’s Singles crown of 2013 Hellas International – Badminton news
Malaysia’s talented shuttler Misbun Ramdan Mohmed Misbun remained invincible in the final round of Hellas International and claimed the Men’s Singles crown on Sunday, May 19, 2013.
He unseated Jan Frohlich from the top spot on victory stand. Their tussle lasted for 31 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 21-14 and 21-13.
The Malaysian lad showed great maturity in his craft and prevailed in both segments of the showdown. On the other hand, Jan Frohlich failed to continue with his top form and lost this grand finale.
In the opening game of match, Misbun showed his intentions straight away in the establishing rallies. He did not give his rival enough time to settle and confounded him with an intensive attack.
He played with an authoritative approach from very first stroke and piled up a decent total in no time. The Czech campaigner was not prepared for such an invasion as he remained grounded in most part of the game.
At first, Misbun gained a decent lead way before the interval and then doubled his total before the announcement of one-minute break.
The latter part of game was also dominated by the Malaysian campaigner as he played flawless badminton. Misbun prevailed in few back-to-back rallies and widened the gap on points table in third quarter of the set.
He maintained an upper hand all the way to final moments and swept the table with an impressive score of 21-14.
The second set of match was just a replay of previous one as Misbun showed consistency in his performance and sealed his straight-set victory.
In first half of the set, he relished full benefits of first set win and kept his competitor under huge pressure. His game plan was a perfect blend of attack and defence. He did not spare any loophole and proved himself superior in all departments of game.
Although the Czech shuttler made every effort to tip the scale in his favour, yet he could not match his challenger’s skills. He kept on trailing behind throughout this set and finally gave up this futile chase after reading 13-21 score on the board.
