Misbun Ramdan positive to elevate his status in international arena – Badminton News
Malaysia’s budding shuttler Misbun Ramdan Misbun ended last season by claiming National Champion title and now he is confident to capitalise this splendid win in 2013.
The young but spirited Men’s Singles expert served notice of his potential by overpowering World Number 21 Wei Feng Chong in the title match of Maybank National Circuit Grand Prix Finals.
Now Misbun Ramdan is in high spirit to make best out of this timely win as he declared this success just a beginning and showed intentions to participate in Super Series tournaments.
He said, “There are so many things that I would like to do in 2013. Of course, I want to compete in more Super Series events and improve my ranking. So this is a good start for me.”
In the National GP Finals, he displayed commendable fighting spirit and cast out higher ranked Wei Feng with an impressive result of 13-21, 21-18 and 21-18.
The 21-year-old Misbun took some time to read his rival’s game as he lost first set but he managed to rise from the dust in ending two games and saved the honour in a splendid manner.
Both compatriot shuttlers started the grand finale with couple of gruelling rallies and grasped the attentions of local spectators.
They kept the audience glued to their chairs throughout this segment of the showdown and earned great deal of admiration for putting a decent effort.
Though, Wei Feng bagged this vital match point with 21-13 score but story was entirely different for him in the following games.
Misbun Ramdan, who also won Pahang Open in October, employed all of his brilliance in the game and brought the contest to right balance.
He did not show any sign of bewilderment and amazed everyone with a strong backlash which helped him to clinch second match point with 21-18 margin.
This development boosted his confidence as he played with even more conviction in the decider and sealed a splendid victory with 21-18 total.
Misbun admitted that he changed his game plan and played with more patience to raise the trophy. He also vowed to work for the betterment of his badminton skills.
He said, “I tend to be hasty on court. That is the biggest mistake that I usually make while playing. And being hasty means I make mistakes. I need to learn to be more patient.”
Now the young Misbun is all set to participate in Malaysia Open qualifying tournament from January 15, 2013.
