Misbun Ramdan topples Zulfadli Zulkiffli in semi-final round of 2012 National Circuit GP Finals
Malaysia’s inexperienced but talented Men’s Singles shuttler Misbun Ramdan Bin Mohmed Misbun performed exceptionally well and secured a title match berth in Maybank National Circuit Grand Prix Finals on December 29, 2012.
He unseated Zulfadli Zulkiffli in a semi-final match which was played at the local badminton complex of Alor Setar.
This encounter lasted for just two games as Misbun Ramdan sealed a splendid victory with an impressive result of 21-13 and 21-16.
Throughout this battle, he looked completely in command whereas Zulfadli was no comparison to his higher ranked rival.
In first set of the match, Misbun played with a cautious approach in the establishing rallies and this resulted into a tight margin.
However, he did not take much time to gain the required momentum and left his challenger far behind on points table.
Misbun started the beating after 4-4 and bagged valuable points at steady pace to pile up a mountainous figure of 11 before the break.
His strategy was so complete that Zulfadli could not find any loophole and kept trailing behind until half time.
Misbun resumed his campaign with 8-11 margin and doubled the lead in no time. He prevailed in couple of rallies without any interruption and strengthened his grip with 14-8 total.
This deficit proved too much for young Zulfadli as he could not lift this burden and knelt down tamely in latter part of the game. Though, he showed some spark but that was not enough to avoid a 13-21 defeat.
The following game was just a replay of previous one as Misbun was bit sluggish in the beginning but he gathered some pace after few establishing rallies and made a significant difference.
On the other hand, Zulfadli squandered his effort in the crucial stage and crashed out of the home event in a woeful manner.
In first half of the set, he raised his chances by adding five points in his total immediately in the beginning and then magnified the impact with few uninterrupted rallies before the break.
However, Misbun showed transformed character in latter part of the game and locked the honour with 21-16.
Now real challenge awaits him as he is scheduled to meet Wei Feng Chong in the title match.
