Misbun Sidek withdraws his resignation to train Lee Chong Wei for 2012 Olympic Games
Misbun Sidek, the national coach of Malaysian national singles squad, withdrew his resignation and is back now to train the World no. 1, Lee Chong Wei, for the 2012 Olympic Games. He resigned on December 31, 2010 due to some wrong decisions taken by some
officials of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). Now an extensive training program will be compiled for the men’s singles squad of Malaysia for the upcoming major events, including World Badminton Championships.
Misbun is considered as one of the best coaches in the world owing to his extensive experience of over two decades. He has served the nation with utmost dedication and commitment, as a result, he has produced world-class players who have won numerous titles
in the major events. He is religiously followed by countless badminton fans in Malaysia, and that is one reason that forced him to come back and train the elite players together with the youngsters.
However, his return to his previous duties will also have some changes as there are two other coaches working for the singles squad including, Rashid Sidek and Tey Seu Bock. Under the supervision of these coaches, Chong Wei is also performing well as has
won three out of four super series events.
It has been decided in the meeting of BAM that new terms and conditions will be decided for Misbun. He is now expected to train the back-up shuttlers together with Chong Wei. The 51-year-old will start working this month as there is not much time left in
the World Championships. He did not put any conditions for the withdrawal of his resignation and will work according to the duties assigned to him by BAM.
Chong Wei, who has been playing under the supervision of Misbun for several years, has also indicated that he will follow his coach. The World no. 1 will now get training from Misbun again and is quite optimistic to continue his winning streak as he has
good understanding with the coach. The new training program will now be designed for the national squad and back-up shuttlers in the category of men and ladies singles.
