Im currently in the process of having a miscarriage. The spotting/discharge started over a week ago. I saw the doctor on Wednesday, he informed me my cervix was still closed. Said the miscarriage could take days or weeks. Thursday the bleeding started. By the end of the day, I was in horrible pain. Words can not describe how painful it was. I was finally given Vicodin, which did not ease it one bit. Friday morning, I finally passed the gestational sac. That was a shock as well. I had no idea it would be completely intact..........I guess my question is, after the sac has passed how much longer will the bleeding last. The pain is now like bad menstral cramps, but the bleeding continues to be very heavy.

  1. depends on how far along you were, i bled for 2 weeks (and then almost immediatly after had my period)

  2. I bled for 4 weeks but luckily if i passed the sac, i never noticed. I totally understand though, you just want to get on with life and it's so frustrating. And you start kicking yourself for not having the op. Though, looking back, i think it will only make me a stronger person. Make sure you drink loads of water, my midwife even told me to get on my Wii!!!

  3. I had a missed abortion in Feb. I underwent D&C But after that aslo the bleeding continued for 2 and 1/2 weeks.....I know how u must be feeling....So just wait...its not in our hands.

  4. I had a natural miscarriage in March, everything passed the same day and it was the only day I had heavy bleeding.  I had light bleeding for about 2 days after that then spotted for 2-3 days and that was it for me.  I was 8 weeks along and if it ever happened to me again I would not opt for a D&C if I could help it, my pain was bearable.....barely.  I got my first period a month later (April 16).  It's different for every woman, if you haven't stopped bleeding heavy by Monday I would go back to the doctor, he may want to examine you to make sure everything has passed.  If there is any lining and stuff left inside it could cause infection.  Sorry for your loss

  5. My miscarriage lasted a total of around 7 - 14 days. I passed the sac the day the m/c started and then I continued to have cramping pains  along with heavy bleeding for about a week, and then the bleeding eased. To be more specific, My m/c started on March 22nd 2008, and I was given the all clear that everything had passed on April 16th, the b leeding had stopped about a week prior.

    I hope this helps.
