My last period was July 1st, Aug 2nd my hCG levels were 98, Aug 4th they were 283, Aug 11th they were 3,330 and then Aug 25th they were 11,197. I had a transvaginal ultrasound at 5.5 weeks and was told they saw a sac and a yolk but no fetal pole. Today I had another transvaginal ultrasound im 7.4 weeks and still no fetal pole, the tech even raisedmy hips just in case I had a tilted uterus. Im losing hope and already have my self convinced its a miscarriage. My question is will I miscarriage on my own or will they have to do something, also how far along do you have to be to get D&C? I really dont want a D&C...Im so scared and worried. I know they should have been able to see something by now with hcg levels of 11,000 and me being 7.4 weeks...has anyone been in this situation, if so what happened to you?

  1. I don't want to scare you as mine where bad news and i no how empty it makes you feel.i had D&C both times.I waited 2 weeks with the 1st and the pain i went through was unbearable and ended up having 1 anyway.with the second i had a D&C with in 4 days and it was so much easier than waiting and going though a week of pain. But stay Positive its the best you can do and i hope things go well GOOD LUCK!

(oh i was 6 weeks with the 1st and 8 with the second)

my second was a phantom pregnancy so there was no baby at all at 8 weeks that's why i had the D&C earlier and it was much less traumatic for me emotionally.with the 1st i saw the baby come out and it was horrible

  2. I had this happen to me 3 weeks ago.  Well I found out about it a month ago.  I went in for a scan at 7 weeks and was told that I was only 5 weeks.  Which meant that my dates were off (which was not a possibility) or that I was having a miscarriage.  At 8 weeks I had a scan again where I was told I was going to lose the baby.  Well that I had already lost it and would miscarry it.  I opted to wait it out.  At 9.5 weeks I finally miscarried.  It was a horrible experience, however if I had to do it again I would not get a D&C.  I could not live with the thought of "could have been".  There is a website all about misdiagnosed miscarriages and babies being found at 9 weeks, when they had not been seen prior.  I would wait it out. Read some of the stories!   Here is a link.

Scroll all the way down on the page to Misdiagnosed Blighted Ovums. There are so many stories!  I really hope that you do not miscarry however if you do it is very important to have an idea of what to expect.  I was very unprepared for what happened.  If you need to talk please email me.

  3. I had the same experience but my blighted ovum is now a happy healthy 5 year old that just started kindergarten. The best guess the drs had was that I ovulated late and was not as far as they thought with the original ultra sounds. Talk to your dr though and see what they want to do. Mine were going to let nature take its course and then if nothing happened in 2 weeks a D&C. They did another ultra sound b4 doing so and there was her heartbeat, nice and strong.

  4. I agree that they should have seen something by now. I'm very sorry, I know what you are going through. I miscarried this past January at around 7.5 weeks and was able to pass everything on my own - I'm sure you will too.

  5. interesteing......i havent had it happen to me but i've miscarried twice and both times it started with bleeding

  6. hun i have been in the same position as you,its not a b lightened ovum as you have a yolk sac.

last year i had an yolk sac and gestational sac and at 7 weeks 6 days no fetal pole ,the fetal pole just did not develop.

i had a natural miscarriage my choice and it was the most painful thing i have ever been through,

choose the other option hun if you have to.
