My friend is 21 and has had 4 miscarriages 3 of which were in the last year, she is now 7 weeks pregnant ( she normally doesn't make it past 6) and started bleeding yesterday so she went to the ER and they said her cervix was closed and they could see a heartbeat on the ultrasound, do you think the baby will be ok or should she still be worried??

I have heard that your chances of miscarriage went down after they could see a heartbeat...is that true??

  1. It all depends on the person and their genes i think.I was 4 months pregnant and went for my second ultrasound and their was no heartbeat. It took my heart and soul and never tried again to have a baby as i could not take the pain ifit shouldd ever happen again. If it has a heartbeat this time i would be so careful and stay in bed till 5 months along' as she has had so much sorrow  andbad luckk with this.I hope her all the best ...I would not hold my breath on if it will come to full term.

  2. I have had three miscarraiges and have now had 2 healthy pregnancies, so yes she could still have a healthy pregnancy.  Chances of miscarraige DO go down after seeing a heartbeat because most miscarraiges happen before the baby gets to that point, its not to say it can't happen but chances are if she has miscarried at 6 weeks most of the time with no heartbeat and this time there is a heartbeat and the cervix is closed I would say the baby has a good fighting chance.

  3. Seeing a heartbeat has nothing to do with miscarriages. Maybe the thinking is that the baby is developed enough at this point that a miscarriage won't happen. Until your friend is 3 months pregnant, the possibility is still pretty good of a miscarriage. She needs to take it easy until that point, and it wouldn't hurt for her to take it easy until she delivers. Good luck!
