I was told to do a test today after miscarrying on 25th August,it was spontaneous and I had no D n C or scan. Would the hormone still be in my system even though I miscarried? The hospital say do another test in 10 days,as it's unlikely that I am. Anyone put my mind at rest??

  1. From past experience (4 weeks ago), I took a pregnancy test but had already miscarried so I was believing that the test meant i was pregnant as nothing had come away. it wasn't until a week later when i started heavy bleeding and ended up in hospital that they told me that my hcg blood levels and tests were negative. They explained to me that I had miscarried the week earlier but it had not come away until the wk after and that hcg levels only stay pregnant up to 10-12days after the baby died. if its saying your still pregnant it may do but if in a couple weeks it still says positive then see a dr as it may mean it hasn't all come away or there is more than one. Hope you feel ok soon x*x

  2. It is possible that enough hormone might still be in your blood to give a positive result. I think it is unlikely that you are pregnant so soon after. Take their advice and test again in 10 days. I'm so sorry for your loss.

  3. You probably still have some hcg left from your miscarriage that the pregnancy test picked up.

If you want accurate results if your pregnant or not..get 2 bloodworks done..

  4. I don't have an answer for you - but just wanted to say I'm really sorry!

  5. So sorry for your loss, our thoughts are with you. x

  6. Pregnancy hormones can stay in your system for many weeks after a miscarriage, and in all cases they will stay in your system for a few weeks. I would totally expect you to get a positive only 10 days on and think it's not just highly unlikely but almost impossible that this is due to a new pregnancy.

I kept getting positive pregnancy tests for almost 5 weeks after my miscarriage.

  7. When you miscarry it can take a while for you HCG levels to drop completely, If you've had no scan I would go to the early pregnancy unit and demand you have one, they can't make a diagnosis of a miscarriage if they haven't scanned you.

  8. I had a D&C done with my pregnancy last year, but dr never mentioned anything about doing pregnancy tests to check whether the pregnancy hormone is still present.  It is very likelily that the hormone can still be present, anything from a week to a month or so.  How far along were you?

  9. I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks at the end of june and passed everything naturally, however you are more fertile after a m/c so you could be pregnant if you have had unprotected s*x. i got pregnant 4 days after my bleeding stopped!

wait another week or so and do another hpt. if it still comes out positive ask for a blood test to check your hcg levels as that would show wether they are rising again or if they just haven't gone back down yet.

my hcg went down to 70 around the 2nd day of miscarriage and when i had a blood test done to see if i was pregnant again they had gone back up to 180 000!!! no denying these numbers!!

congrats if you are and good luck with everything! =D

  10. i had a natural miscarriage and was stilltesting positive 4weeks later the hospital said this was because i didnt have a D&C it can take slightly longer for your hormones to drop back to normal i also still had sore b***s & sickness

you should really have a scan to make sure everything has come away, although i lost my baby straight away there was still stuff in my womb that had to pass this could also explain the + tests

i had weekly scans until my womb was clear i found it very hard because everytime they scanned me and i saw something on the screen i was hoping they had made a mistake and i was still pregnant

    my miscarriage was @ 10wks +

    im sorry for your loss x x x x

  11. not really - my guess is that you still have HCG in your system

  12. Sorry to hear about you loss. I think that you can still test positive for two weeks after a miscarriage. I'm really sorry but i think it's unlikely that you are pregnant again, but if i was you i'd leave a month and then try again.

    Good Luck

  13. It may take some time for your hormone levels to go back down, test again in a week and if it's still positive, go back to the doctor. I do not think you are pregnant already again if you did in fact miscarry.

  14. i always wondered the same thing...

  15. Yeah hormones stay in the system for a long time. Ten days isnt long enough to purge them

  16. im so sorry to hear that. it`s likely that your hcg levels are still high and they show on a test

  17. i had the same thing happen so they did a scan and found out that even though i had miscarried the baby the sac was still there a month later.i had to have a d&c as it would not come away on its own and was getting infected. i think the hormones are still present from the miscarriage and not a new pregnancy as it would be too soon.get a scan done.

im now pregnant again 2 months later.
