Mischa Zverev prevailed over Sergei Bubka in the first round - Sacramento Challenger 2012 CH
Left-hander German, Mischa Zverev, defeated the Ukrainian professional, Sergei Bubka, and confidently marched into the second round of the Sacramento Challenger 2012 held at the hard courts of California, United States on Monday.
Although, Zverev received an upset in the initial set by 2-6, he nudged forward to stamp straight sets 6-2, 6-3 triumph as the match progressed.
Previously the participants encountered one another at the final quarter-final of the ABN AMRO tournament held at the hard courts of Rotterdam, Netherlands. After a tough competition, Zverev collected his straight sets 7-6(5),
6-2 win, in the year 2011.
The 25-year-old, Bubka, commenced an excellent start in the opener and broke his rival’s initial serve to engrave a 2-love lead. As the game progressed, there was a series of break points observed but the Ukrainian held his lead
throughout. Eventually, the Ukrainian underdog concluded the set with his 6-2 win.
In the second set, the higher ranked German professional took note of his former upset and nudged forward to secure the initial lead by 2-1 in the third game. However, Bubka's passion completely died out as the set progressed and
he was unable to respond to Zverev’s over-powering ground strokes. The German professional terminated the set with a 6-2 score line without any difficulty.
The world number 168, German tennis ace, faced a little resistance by his challenger but both the players sustained their initial serve, displaying their strong comeback. The score line squared down to 2-all in the fourth and 3-all
in the sixth game respectively. Zverev was not ready to face another upset by the Ukrainian, so he struggled to break his serve twice in the end and stole the match with a 6-3 win.
The lower ranked Ukrainian professional fired four aces and double faulted three times in the match. He manifested 57 percent initial serve precision with 31 of 55 first and 19 of 42 second delivery points. The German participant
maintained his lead by bombarding his opponent with seven aces and he committed double faults four times. He had 63 percent first serve with 37 of 48 and eight of 28 second serve points.
