Misdemeanor?

I was charged with a retail theft in Florida in which I was only given a fine, but pleaded guilty of it. Was denied sealing because of guilty verdict. If I apply for jobs in other states; will my Florida criminal record show up?

  1. If you were only given a fine it should be an infraction so I wouldn't bother putting it down. Background checks aren't done that much because they cost $. Depends on the company and the job, the more $$ they pay you the more chance of them running a background check.

  2. I doubt, but again it depends what type of job you are applying for? Most companies dont really do background checks let alone a extensive one. Plus its a misdemeanor, they dont really care unless you have a felony. Good Luck..

  3. You can apply for a  non-disclosure, which means it is not visible for anyone except the police and government inquiries.

If this is your only offense and you have not had any problems since then an attorney can request a hearing with the court.

The D.A. should not oppose this if you are really clean, and the court will issue an order.

It depends on how long ago this happened and the actual crime, what type of misdemeanor.

Ask an attorney, it should cost less than $1000.

  4. what was the degree of the crime???? if you got a ticket then possibly not. You could always request a copy of your criminal record (which you will have to pay for) and check

  5. Yes it will, I'm trying to get into teaching and have a few marijuana charges and things from when I was younger. It's really bs, a small insignificant "crime" that hurt no-one is going to prevent me from getting a job. our criminal justice system causes crime. I would love to get a job and teach however I can't. Somethign like this could easily steer me into a life of crime but I'm goign into another industry instead.
