  1. cos it's not natural travelling underground,

  2. Typical English stiff-upper-lip; You will not find such unfriendly an attitude on the Glasgow Subway.

  3. Unfortunately where I live we don't have a Subway (not the sandwich shop) but I heard that it's due to todays society in London that the people as they commute sort of switch off due to todays busy lifestyles etc. I think I heard this off BBC News a while ago. Due to this people show no real emotitons. Hope that helps!

  4. Hello,

(ANS) In my opinion, Its NOT that other people (travelers or commuters) are unhappy or miserable but I have a theory that it is the actual experience of traveling by tube in London that makes people feel unhappy.

Why? because its NOT natural for human beings to be crammed into such a small physical space, like cattle in a truck. Its the very act of having your personal space invaded indirectly that makes people feel unhappy, hostile, miserable and so forth.

**Nobody likes or enjoys their personal intimate space being taken over or invaded and this is the main reason people are miserable on the tube. It has very little or nothing to do with being happy or sad but more too do with being confined in a small space. Its the effect of the being in a small space with others that you cannot escape from all be it temporarily.

**In other words its just an horrible, awful experience.

  5. The British are a miserable unpleasant lot, I should know. I've lived here for all my 57 years. There are a few things that make them happy: Stuffing their faces with junk food; vomiting on the pavement outside the pub after a drunken Saturday night, and beating up their wives after their favourite football team has lost.

  6. Being forced to share space with people you don't know will never put you in a fantastic mood.

    Ja.

  7. So do you think that people driving on the freeways during rush hour are any happier?

Commuting is commuting.  It sucks.  But on the tube, you can see everyone together, and analyze their emotions.  If you took a picture of every driver in every car on the highway during rush hour, you'd see the same thing.
