The Dinamiki must produce team effort to win the domestic cup against Rubin Kazan at Yekaterinburg stadium, says Zvjezdan Misimović
Dynamo Moscow will face Rubin Kazan in the Russian Cup final at Yekaterinburg stadium, after seeing off FC Volga Nizhny Novgorod in the semi-finals with a 2-1 win at Luzhniki stadium.
Though, the Moscow-based club has reached the cup finals thrice previously, they have only managed to lift the prestigious Russian cup just once. The Dinamiki managed to win the Russian Cup after
defeating FC Rotor Volgograd at Luzhniki stadium back in 1995.
However, they failed to the cup final on two occasions, having suffered defeats against Lokomotiv Moscow (1996/97) and Zenit St. Petersburg (1998/99).
The Musora midfielder, Zvjezdan Misimović, has urged his teammates to put an end to their failures of past, after winning the final this time around. He admitted that it has been too long for a club of their stature to remain
without trophies, and has assured the fans of putting an end to long trophy wait.
Misimović admitted that Dynamo need a lot of luck along with hard work in the upcoming final against the Volzhane. However, he warned the Musora not to underestimate the Kazan based club, admitting that Rubin are strong opponents.
“Final is a very special match for all of us. In these matches you always have 50-50 chances. I hope that on Wednesday we play much better than as we had played the
first half of the match against Lokomotiv and help our team to win a trophy after so many years".
The former Bayern Munich player was quoted as saying.
Speaking on their Russian Premier League campaign, Misimović expressed his satisfaction over the recent results, and has urged his teammates to win the remaining matches of the third league round.
There is little arguing that the Dinamiki had a poor start to the third league round, having failed to win from the opening four matches. However, they turned the tables after claiming 10 points in next four outings.
Their latest 2-2 draw against Lokomotiv Moscow at Arena Khimki has moved them to the fourth-spot in the league. As things stand, they trail the second-spot by just a point.
