Zvjezdan Misimović has hailed Zenit St. Petersburg and urged his side to claim a decent spot at the end of the ongoing Russian Premier League campaign.
Dynamo Moscow attacking midfielder, Zvjezdan Misimović, has urged his teammates to follow the footsteps of Zenit St. Petersburg to win their first Russian Premier League title in the near future.
He urged his teammates to start winning trophies at Arena Khimki and pointed to Zenit’s performances over the years.
Zenit’s impressive run started back in 2007, when they claimed their first ever league title since the inception of the Russian Premier League. The Meshki have gone on to win the UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Russian Cup and Russian
Super Cup ever since.
As things stand, the defending champions are the favourites to retain the league title as they enjoy a massive 11-point lead atop the league table.
“Zenit are amongst the strongest clubs in Russia because they have worked so hard in recent years. The team has tremendous confidence in their abilities.” The Bundesliga winner was quoted as saying.
Dynamo, on the other hand, are yet to win a league title since the inception of Russian top division. Their last trophy was a Russian Cup, which they won back in 1995.
Misimović went on to lament the situation and expressed his desire to end the long trophy wait at Arena Khimki. He assured the fans that the Moscow-based club is moving in the right direction after making decent purchases recently.
The former Bayern Munich star denied reports suggesting he regrets his decision to move to Russia. The 29-year-old German-born Bosnian footballer admitted that he is happy and assured the fans of helping the White-blues win a league
title in the near future.
“The Dinamiki have big plans for the future and I'm here to help them. I'm glad I am at a club with a rich history and traditions. It would be great to help the team return to the old height. For me it is very interesting.” Misimović

Speaking on his latest ankle injury, Misimović revealed that it’s not as bad as initially feared and declared himself fit for the upcoming Russian Cup semi-final against Volga Nizhny Novgorod.
